TREATMENTS

Reproductive Medicine

Explore reproductive health evaluation, fertility planning, and personalised care options.

GUIDANCE

What Does Reproductive Medicine Cover?

A reproductive-medicine consultation may involve evaluation and planning for concerns such as:

The role of assessment is to identify the most relevant factor and decide what level of treatment is justified.

delayed conception

irregular ovulation, menstrual cycles or PCOS-related fertility concerns

ovarian-reserve, tubal or uterine factors affecting fertility

endometriosis-related fertility concerns

male fertility factors or fertility preservation

previous unsuccessful fertility treatment or assisted reproductive treatment such as IUI, IVF or ICSI when indicated

GUIDANCE

A Diagnosis-First Approach

Reproductive medicine works best when testing and treatment are linked to a clear clinical question. A diagnosis-first consultation helps patients understand what is known, what remains uncertain and which next step is proportionate to the findings.

This approach is especially useful for couples who have already tried treatment elsewhere, have mixed male and female factors, or are deciding between IUI, IVF, ICSI and fertility-preservation options.

Understand the History

Medical history, menstrual cycles, previous pregnancies, previous fertility treatment and both partners' reproductive health provide the starting point.

Select Relevant Tests

Testing may include selected hormone tests, ultrasound, ovarian-reserve assessment, tubal assessment or semen analysis depending on the clinical question.

Explain the Findings

Results should be discussed in context. A single abnormal result should not be treated as the whole diagnosis.

Plan the Next Step

Depending on the findings, management may range from addressing an underlying condition to ovulation-related treatment, IUI, IVF, ICSI or fertility preservation.

GUIDANCE

Why Individualised Planning Matters

Reproductive medicine includes both routine and complex fertility problems. Age, diagnosis, ovarian reserve, semen parameters, previous treatment, medical conditions and family-building goals can all change the recommended path.

The most advanced treatment is not automatically the most appropriate treatment. A useful consultation should help a couple understand:

what may be contributing to the fertility problem

which investigations are genuinely needed

what treatment options are available

why one option may be preferred over another
